Life Lessons in Web Analytics

Kevin Packler at Channel Dollars put together a nice list of companies that help merchants optimize and manage their comparison shopping engines (like Shopping.com, NexTag, and ShopZilla). These services are known by many terms: data feed management, product feed management, comparison feed management, etcetera. Kevin missed several of these services I thought were worth mentioning.

I’m going to add price and offerings to my list since that is what most small businesses look at when considering a service to manage their product data feeds. Just don’t come back to me when the prices and offerings have changed – I’m simply reporting.

• Merchant Advantage – helps with submission to 25-100+ shopping sites with analytics included. One of the bigger players in the industry.
  • PRICE: $145/mo for lite version (25 channels to submit to), $295/mo for professional version (100+ channels to submit to).
• SingleFeed – this is the one that opened my eyes to comparison shopping feed management. Offer free click packages for those that are new to comparison shopping engines. Great customer service.
  • PRICE: $19.99/mo for Google Product Search only, $129.9/mo to submit to 10+ channels (+$29.99 setup fee).
• FeedPerfect – submits to unlimited channels and offers a pretty good analytics package.
  • PRICE: $75/mo for lite version (3 channels only), $149/mo for professional version (unlimited channels), $299/mo for enterprise version (4 stores, unlimited channels).
• GoDataFeed – the low-price leader in data feed management. Not as robust of an analytics package, but I know they are working on that. Great customer service.
  • PRICE: $49.99/mo for basic verson (unlimited channels, 5000 product limit), $149.99/mo for premium version (unlimited channels, 50000 product limit).
• Channel Advisor’s Shopping Advisor – submits to 40+ comparison shopping engines. No price listed likely means extensive cross-selling and higher prices than the competition. I do not know for sure though.
  • PRICE: N/A
• Channel Intelligence’s SellCast – submits to comparison shopping engines as well as other marketing channels. Also no price listed, and by judging the size of their clients (Best Buy, OfficeMax, and Circuit City among them) it isn’t necessarily welcome territory for small businesses.
  • PRICE: N/A
• Mercent Retail Datafeed Edition – quite a package as far as online marketing across shopping channels goes. If you are looking for simple data feed management, though, this doesn’t look to be a cost-effective option.
